The existing deck was comprised of standard grooved boards on top of the joists. We removed this, fixed a slope that was on the joists and re-did the deck with thinner boards in Yellow Balau timber. This is a very good, long-lasting hardwood that can take different types of finish, although in this case the customer decided to keep it without a finish, as she wanted it to age quickly and turn the same colour as the rest of the deck parts which she wanted untouched. This is an example of 'grafting' good decking onto less-than-perfect joists, but we are equally happy to create complete new decks.
